The Wolfhound Experience was born out of our passion for this ancient Irish Dog breed.

The Wolfhound experience will share the rich, fascinating story of the breed and provide an opportunity to meet and walk with these magnificent hounds in all their splendour.

This breed are known as the gentle giants of the canine world as the old Gaelic adage goes they are

“Gentle when stroked, fierce when provoked” .

There are so many fascinating facts to share about this majestic king of canines, from their immense physiological stature as the world’s tallest dog breed, to their presence throughout history not only in Ireland but across the globe.

About Us

The Wolfhound Experience is an approximately 1 and a half hour duration walking tour based in the St. Stephens’ Green area of Dublin 2. The tour will provide a unique opportunity for you and your family, friends or colleagues to have a personal encounter with a pack of trained Irish Wolfhounds and learn about their fascinating story and links to Irish history & Mythology.

Our pack of Irish Wolfhounds are also our family pets and are sometimes accompanied by their two “sibling” native Irish dog breeds Oscar, the Red Setter and Lady MacBeth our Irish Terrier.

Last week I myself and my mother went on the wolfhound Experience with Wayne and it’s one of the best tours Dublin has to offer . Wayne has a huge knowledge of the history of Ireland and is and excellent story teller. The dogs are beautiful majestic so well trained and the star of the show . The care and love that Wayne has for these beautiful animals is shown through out the tour. Funny thing about this is my mother is terrified of dogs and she was very at easy with Wayne dogs and even held them by the leads. This is a tour like no other !!! Best of luck Wayne and the gang we will do it again I’m sure .

Up the dogs!! This was an unforgettable experience with Wayne and his wolfhounds. We did the hike at Ticknock instead of Stephens Green and we are glad we did. This had the dogs in their natural habitat instead of a busy city park. We hiked to Three Rocks to see a great view of Dublin and along the way learning a lot about the history of Ireland and the wolfhound. We then made our way to The Blue Light pub for a drink with the locals. You will feel like a celebrity when everyone comes out to see the dogs. 12/10. Would highly recommend.
